Dr. Pasupathy’s commitment and interest in fundamental research dates from his days as a student, and continues, with important contracts in place and stretching into the future in wireless digital communication and signal processing.  Areas of interest have included array processing digital communication, development of computer equipment for signal processing, advanced transceiver structures, mobile cellular network performance, high capacity radio networks and coding algorithms and architectures.

Dr. Pasupathy has been awarded many honours, has lectured throughout North America, Europe and Asia and his list of students resemble a mini United Nations.  His work and reputation have made a significant contribution to the image of the Canadian research community on an international scale.  His work has helped very directly in the development of Canadian capability in the area of communications in its broadest form. For this gifted researcher and teacher the EIC recognizes him as Fellow of the engineering Institute of Canada Ladies and Gentlemen and Mr. President, we present
