EIC / ICI FELLOWS  (2004)

Mr. D. Andrew Eisenhauer
 – A Member of the Canadian Society for Senior Engineers

Mr. Eisenhauer graduated from Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Technical College with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.  He began his career working in design and manufacturing but returned to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to start, as co-founder, the Atlantic Bridge Company of Lunenburg.  This company has an outstanding record of significant engineering and construction in eastern Canada in some particularly interesting and major projects in Newfoundland.  This company has evolved into ABCO and its affiliated subsidiary enterprises over the last few decades.  Mr. Eisenhauer was President of this large Canadian Corporation.

He had a strong and influential connection with the Technical University of Nova Scotia, particularly at the time it was merging with Dalhousie.  As Chairman of the Board of TUNS he was resolute in preserving the history and high standards in developing its place in the overall university.  He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University.

Mr. Eisenhauer has distinguished himself both within the Atlantic region, and nationally.  He has been a Board member of Maritime Tel, the Maritime Life Assurance Company, the Atlantic Institute of Biotechnology, and the Applied Microelectronics Institute.  As well he has been Chairman of the Advanced Materials Engineering Centre, the Nova Scotia and Maritime Division of the Canadian Manufacturers Association and the Atlantic School of Theology.  On the national level was a member of the National Research Council and its Executive Committee, as well as chairing several other Work Committees for the NRC.

Mr. Eisenhauer is a strong advocate for community involvement for the Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia, where he has been recognized with an Honourary Doctor of Divinity.  In confirmation of this role he is now Director of the restoration of the historic St. John’s Heritage Church of Lunenburg, following its tragic destruction by fire on Halloween night of 2001.

Ladies and Gentlemen – may I present a distinguished Canadian engineer, and to a long line of well-deserved honours, tonight we add Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.

Mr. President – Mr. D. Andrew Eisenhauer
